Rubens Happy World (2022)

I would say Rubens Happy World 1 and 2 are a mixture of homages mixed in with my own sprinkle of salt. rubens happy world 2 is less of a homage than 1, but that's just cause I got more familiar with editing. What is RHW? Well the whole thing started with my friend "Ruben" when he made ME a film called "Adolescent Psycho" for my birthday. I was very surprised. So 1 year later, the birth of my movie came out. The premise in Rubens Happy World 1 is very straightforward even though the editing is the most entertaining part. What I mean by that is the way how it's presented to the viewer. The prologue is an introduction to Ruben. And now before I write about the first act... Now what's great about the second act, is that that's the whole premise. Telling my friends that they should make a video about ruben for his birthday. So there is this big collage of people talking about their past time with Ruben, or how Ruben put one into prison (that's in the second part of the movie, not the first one). Even though it is just a gift. I made this gift grand with the possibility of my friends and me being very invested into this work. It took me 3 months to make it. But half a year to plan it out. It wasn't on and off 3 months. I edited every single day. every single day. It's not torture really. I used all of my editing skills that I've used before in my videos and made a film. I had no idea about filmic pro. SO I shot all of my videos on an iPhone 12. Coming back to Act ONE: twenty five friends of Ruben. in ACT Two there were short sketches, 1 music video and short clips stitched together. ACT Three is a dinner table Q and A. Host being me and some of Rubens closest friends. When I look back onto Rubens Happy World 1 I see a beautifully crafted birthday present and even though it's made for a friend and not the whole world doesn't mean shit. It's cool as heck.

Maturafilm der 8N (2023)

So in Austrian schools you make a short video that's 99.99% of the time done in a really shitty way. And it makes sense it's done in a shitty way, because in the end it's just a small video that you show in your "Matura-prom". There were 300 people who watched this in this huge hall where I've presented it. My friends had their prom/graduation coming up, and a good friend of mine "Matej" asked me to make their Maturafilm. My schoolyear was pretty relaxed, and I dearly searched for a new project to work on. It found me. Usually Maturafilms are 3 minutes long. Mine is 17 minutes long. The basic plot in a maturafilm is to show every pupil who was in that class with some really bad background music. I gave every pupil a chance to have a own scene. Even though most of the scenes I had in my idea, and I just put the people in those ideas which fitted their personality the most. With the advertisement money of their schoolmagazine I had bought myself a tripod. It was fun working on this project, because the pupils in that class "8N" were really helpful with my bizarre ideas (putting 5 schooltables in a really tight hallway and walking back and forth and back and forth to film a scene of them). I was more familiar with my tools (AE and AP mostly). It's a gift to my friends. And for me it was more experience. Experience in editing, shooting, directing people, convince school staff that their opinion sucks and that you still want to show the film even though it's too long.

Rubens Happy World 2 (2025)

It came back. And it came back in a more personal way. If you've noticed in my earlier work I've done a lot of fast paced cutting. This time it was slower but still more impactful. Three chapters. Same premise but sorted in a different way. The first chapter is a dinner fight argument inspired by "The Bear". Recurring characters and new characters. Two of those new characters were surprising (last interview). I have the least to write about this film the most, mostly because it's very fresh, and when I've finished something I'm very critical about it (because I want everything to be perfect). I can deeply appreciate it when I can look back onto these films and see how far I've come with all of my tools.

Short films

(not all of them are "serious" work, almost all of these I've just created in a couple of days ---- what I'm trying to say with "serious work" is that I don't care that much about short films. Of course I like to watch them and edit them, but full feature length films are just more preferable.):

These are the films which I've starred, produced, edited, directed in. I started editing at the age of 12. July 2017.
